{"id":3972,"date":"2021-11-11T15:21:26","date_gmt":"2021-11-11T14:21:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.agrimatco.ma\/ennemi\/powdery-mildew\/"},"modified":"2021-11-11T15:21:26","modified_gmt":"2021-11-11T14:21:26","slug":"powdery-mildew","status":"publish","type":"ennemi","link":"https:\/\/www.agrimatco.ma\/en\/ennemi\/powdery-mildew\/","title":{"rendered":"Powdery mildew"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Causal agent<\/strong>: The fungus <em>Sphaerotheca pannosa<\/em>,<\/p>\n<p><strong>Synonyms :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Podosphaera pannosa<\/em> (de Bary),<\/li>\n<li><em>Powdery mildew leucoconium<\/em> (Desmazi\u00e8res),<\/li>\n<li><em>Alphitomorpha pannosa<\/em> (Wallroth),<\/li>\n<li><em>Albigo pannosa<\/em> (Kuntze),<\/li>\n<li><em>Erysiphe pannosa<\/em> (Fries),<\/li>\n<li><em>Sphaerotheca persicae<\/em> (Woron.),<\/li>\n<li><em>Sphaerotheca rosae<\/em> (Jacz.),<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Description :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Like all powdery mildew , <em>Sphaerotheca pannosa<\/em> <em>develops<\/em>its mycelium on the surface of contaminated organs.<\/li>\n<li>When conditions become favorable, the mycelium sporulates on the surface of the leaf.<\/li>\n<li>Reproduction and dissemination of the fungus takes place through the formation of conidiophores at the end of which conidia are produced.<\/li>\n<li>The size of the conidia is around 19-25 X 9-14 \u00b5m.<\/li>\n<li>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Biology :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This fungus does not overwinter on apricot or peach and the primary inoculum comes from roses infected in the spring.<\/li>\n<li>The winter conservation of the fungus takes place on rosebush in the form of mycelium both on the twigs at the base of the thorns and inside the buds.<\/li>\n<li>This conservation also takes place very rarely through the intermediary of the perithecia which form in the felted clusters of mycelium present on the branches of the rosebush.<\/li>\n<li>Powdery mildew spores are moved by wind, water, and plant-to-plant contact.<\/li>\n<li>Once the spores reach the susceptible host tissue, they germinate when there is sufficient free moisture (high humidity, rain or splashing water) and begin to colonize the plant tissue.<\/li>\n<li>Mycelial development is at its maximum between 11 \u00b0 C and 28 \u00b0 C.<\/li>\n<li>The optimum for conidial formation is between 21 \u00b0 C and 27 \u00b0 C.<\/li>\n<li>The formation of conidia is zero below 10 \u00b0 C and above 27 \u00b0 C.<\/li>\n<li>Germination of conidia is very fast when the humidity level is around 99% but zero below 75%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Symptoms :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On fruits, the disease usually appears as round whitish spots a few weeks after petal fall.<\/li>\n<li>The spots will widen to cover much of the fruit.<\/li>\n<li>Later, the white mycelium peels off to reveal round, rusty lesions.<\/li>\n<li>Diseased leaves develop dry brownish patches covered with a white powdery growth.<\/li>\n<li>Newly infected leaf tissue is dwarf and deformed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Control :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that rose plants near susceptible hosts are treated appropriately to reduce the initial inoculum and the incidence of disease.<\/li>\n<li>A good size to increase airflow and reduce relative humidity.<\/li>\n<li>Balanced plant nutrition.<\/li>\n<li>Chemical control: <strong>AGRIKAR STAR<\/strong> at a dose of 50 ml \/ hl.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-3972","ennemi","type-ennemi","status-publish","hentry"," nt-post-class"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.5 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Powdery mildew - Agrimatco<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/www.agrimatco.ma\/en\/ennemi\/powdery-mildew\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Powdery mildew - Agrimatco\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"Causal agent: The fungus Sphaerotheca pannosa, Synonyms : Podosphaera pannosa (de Bary), Powdery mildew leucoconium (Desmazi\u00e8res), Alphitomorpha pannosa (Wallroth), Albigo pannosa (Kuntze), Erysiphe pannosa (Fries), Sphaerotheca persicae (Woron.), Sphaerotheca rosae (Jacz.), Description : Like all powdery mildew , Sphaerotheca pannosa developsits mycelium on the surface of contaminated organs.
